"Streetlights"
Tyanna J. Buie, Artist
Powder Coated Steel
Completed September 12, 2015

"Streetlights" is a visual depiction of the bridging together of two communities, Harambee and Riverwest. "Taking Root Pulling Together Land Beyond Hill Hope Bridges All" are words used to affirm a positive way of thinking about one's own community. The use of graffiti and the facade of streetlights speak to the urban visual language, and how we as individuals should be the light and hope for our neighborhoods and beyond.

This project would not be possible without the support of The Greater Milwaukee Foundation, Mary Nohl Fund, Milwaukee Arts Board, Neighborhood Improvement Development Corporation, City of Milwaukee, The Kresge Foundation, MKE <LAX, Harambee Great Neighborhood Initiative and Greater Milwaukee Committee, and the contractor/consultant of this project, Anthony Mau.
