IN The Air: Voices from Detroit and Beyond
Elaine L. Jacob Gallery at Wayne State University/Kresge Arts Detroit

“I’m Speaking” is a Self-Portrait Deep-fake created from GIF and Meme culture, which re-imagines pop-culture, identity, appropriation, authorship and humor through the use of images. Tyanna Buie combines images and texts solely derived from mass-media to create pointed and unique works that comment on pop-culture, identity, appropriation, social movements, politics, and authorship.

I’m Speaking, design by Tyanna J. Buie, on exhibit from March 23 through April 17, 2021; S. Woodward and E. Canfield, and I-75/Warren, Detroit, MI
